The Incredible Seiko NH35A Movement

We are selling a lot of watches now that are fitted with Seiko's NH35A movement, and our customers are extremely satisfied, which of course always makes us happy and reduces our support and warranty overheads.

Mostly watch manufacturers do not make their own movements, instead depending on OEM movements from famous Japanese companies like Citizen or Seiko, however nowadays we are seeing more Chinese clones of these movements, so we have a policy of avoiding these.  That's not to say that the Chinese cannot make a decent movement, far from it, the Seagull being an example of a world class movement, but for the most part the cheaper Chinese movements as of 2020 are still a bit unreliable for retailers like ourselves that offer, and uphold, a warranty.

Enter the NH35A

The NH35A is the OEM version of a movement that Seiko fit to their own watches and as such it's absolutely fabulous, and it offers unparalleled  features, reliability and power reserve for a price that allows it to be fitted in watches that retail as cheap as £80 or less, though you really need to spend at least £100 to get a really good watch with this movement assuming you want things like Stainless Steel Cases and Sapphire Glass Crystal.

The Seiko NH35A is a hand-windable automatic movement, with a hacking upgrade from the NH25.  It started hitting the market in about 2012 and has since gone on to become one of the world’s most popular automatic movements and is widely available in many microbrand watches.

The Seiko NH35A movement is an unbranded version of the Seiko Caliber 4R35. This movement is also equipped with the Seiko Magic lever, so by simply shaking the watch from side to side it should get it going almost immediately.
